The Technical Services Interest Group (TSIG) is AzLA’s newest special interest group. Its purpose is to promote the exchange of knowledge in the areas of cataloging, processing, acquisitions, and serials by:
- Bringing together association members interested in cataloging, processing, acquisitions, and serials.
- Providing enrichment opportunities for association members by organizing forums to discuss problems and share ideas.
- Sponsoring programs regarding cataloging, processing, acquisitions, and serials.
- Collaborating with the divisions and other units of AzLA to enhance the role of the libraries in Arizona.
The group, formally known as the Bibliographic Services Discussion Group (BSDG), was started in 2001 as a local Phoenix area discussion group and has existed for about six years, meeting quarterly. It has been active in working with AzLA to develop programs for the annual conference that have benefited library staff throughout the state of Arizona. It is a wonderful forum for sharing ideas, finding solutions to technological issues and supporting each other in a rapidly changing environment. The members of the BSDG met in October of 2006, at the AzLA annual conference and decided that the group could benefit library staff throughout the state. The name was changed to Technical Services Interest Group (TSIG). In January of 2007, AzLA gave its approval for the group to become an AzLA Special Interest Group.
AzLA members are welcome to join the Technical Services Interest Group page.
