Programs: Perler Beads

Posted By Lauren Regenhardt, Monday, March 30, 2015

This was one of my most successful programs for Teen Tech Week.  It was unexpectedly popular and it's one that the teens have been asking to continue every day since we started it.  Even the teen boys loved it; they made all kinds of superhero-related creations so it would be perfect for the Unmasked Summer Reading Program theme.

 Materials:

Perler beads: Found at Joann Fabric

Peg boards (comes with iron paper): Found at Joann Fabric

An iron

Templates: Found on Pinterest

Directions:

Use the templates to place the perler beads on the peg board.  Some might not be to scale so it can be a little tricky!

Once the design is to your liking, cover it with the ironing paper and iron evenly for 20 seconds or until all is melted.

You can iron both sides; however, we found it looked nicer and cleaner with only one side melted.

We had our iron set to medium.
