| AzLA began in 1926, when Estelle Lutrell and State Librarian Con Cronin recognized the need for a strong association of librarians to improve Arizona libraries. Since its establishment, the mission of AzLA has been to promote and improve library service and librarianship in Arizona. |

The AzLA Action Plan is a strategic planning document that outlines the association’s goals and objectives. It also guides AzLA leaders in carrying out their missions and responsibilities. To assure the currency and relevancy of this document, AzLA conducts an annual Planning Forum to revisit the plan.
