We are hosting a major Electronic Resources Event in Phoenix on February 23rd!

Imagine a full day focused on current and potential AZ Electronic Resources where you can connect in person with e-resource vendors and library professionals. You are imagining the 2017 AzLA E-Resources Forum! At this full day event you'll learn about the latest e-resource updates, features and strategic directions and will also have a chance to ask questions and connect directly with the sources about issues that impact your library users and your budget. Statistical reporting, marketing efforts and communication will be given special attention in presentations and panels. Most major e-resource vendors are expected to attend in-person as well as library staff representatives from most major public, academic and community college across the entire state of Arizona. Breakfast, beverages and lunch will be provided and a reception will follow the day’s formal events. Attendance will be capped at 100 and we expect a full house so be sure to register soon!

Purpose: The AzLA eResource Special Interest Group studies, plans and promotes ways for all types of libraries in Arizona to learn about and share content-based online resources, including databases, e-books and related content. Memberships includes Electronic Resource Managers, Librarians and Administrative Staff from most major Public, Academic and Community College Libraries in Arizona as well as a variety of School, Public and Special Library staff.

Common Issues & Goals

  • To connect library eResource professionals from all library types across the entire state of Arizona.
  • Explore practical opportunities for mutual learning, information sharing and experimentation around library eResources across Arizona.
  • Share information on new and model e-content projects, platforms and tools, including both locally developed and commercially purchased.
  • To share information on statewide e-content projects.
  • to work together to develop resources to enhance the library users' online experience.
  • To further working relationships between all types of libraries around e-content.

Activities

  • Host an annual, day-long eResources forum. The forum will include presentations and panels on research, trends, issues and the future of digital libraries.
  • Host an annual webinar showcasing new and intriguing e-content projects.
  • Organize and sponsor an annual program and business meeting at the AzLA conference.
  • Share information in the AzLA newsletter and through a listserv.
  • Host quarterly Interest Group Council and Planning Meetings, which are open to all members.

Leadership

  • Officers shall consist of the AzLA members in good standing & shall be a Chair, a Vice Chair, Recorder and Immediate Past Chair.
  • The Interest Group Council will foster leadership for the Interest Group and provide the Association’s Elections / Appointments Committee with candidates who will be AzLA members in good standing.
  • Terms for each appointed officer shall be for two (2) years commencing at the conclusion of the annual conference.

Duties & Responsibilities of Chair

  • Plan and manage the annual forum/summit.
  • Convene and attend the quarterly leadership planning meetings.
  • Convene and attend open meeting sponsored by the group.
  • Recruit members to plan and carry out annual webinars.
  • Plan and submit a proposal for a program at the AzLA conference.
  • Represent the eResources SIG to the AzLA board, and submit quarterly and annual reports as required.
  • Attend Conference Program Sub-Committee meetings.
  • Send updates to the membership through the listserv.
  • Ensure accuracy and currency of the group's AzLA web page content (with Vice Chair).

Duties & Responsibilities of the Vice Chair

  • Represent the eResources SIG to the AZLA board if the Chair is not able.
  • Attend the quarterly leadership planning meetings.
  • Assist with webinars, meetings, annual summit/forum and membership recruitment.
  • Ensure accuracy and currency of the group's AzLA web page content (with Chair).
  • Attend public meetings hosted or sponsored by the group.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Past Chair

  • Submit quarterly articles to the AzLA newsletter.
  • Submit recommendations for Chair, Vice Chair and Recorder to the Association’s Elections / Appointments Committee sixty (60) days prior to the Association’s Annual Conference.
  • Attend the quarterly leadership planning meetings.
  • Attend public meetings hosted or sponsored by the group.

Duties & Responsibilities of the Recorder

  • Record minutes of all meetings and assure that these are properly maintained and sent to the association for archiving.
  • Attend the quarterly leadership planning meetings.
  • Attend public meetings hosted or sponsored by the group.
