Library Con Online! Connecting Community & Pop Culture on a Virtual Stage
August 12, 2021 @ 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm MST
On August 12, 2021 join us for Library Con Online! Connecting Community & Pop Culture on a Virtual Stage. Even as lockdowns were lifted, virtual programs became an essential avenue for community engagement, so Jolene Bradley, Glen Brown, Shelley Reddy, Andrea Small, and others from the Maricopa County Library District brought their LibraryCon back to life in a new way. This type of event, which is family-friendly and appeals to a wide demographic in the community, was a perfect complement to planned efforts for National Library Card Sign Up Month. And virtual programming provided new opportunities, allowing individuals to access content during a two-week time period while coming back for special events and activities. Staff identified previously recorded programs that could see an encore, designed new programs, and engaged with creators in the community. Jolene, Glen, Shelley, and Andrea are professionals with a combined 41 years of experience in libraries and have attended more than 25 cons (and many more festival and con-style events). Their hobbies include blacksmithing, cosplay (both construction and wearing), drawing, reading, tabletop gaming, video games, and writing. They will discuss the event, strategies for success, and lessons learned from our virtual LibraryCon.
Registration is required to attend. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
