The Mission Statement of AzLA

The mission of the Arizona Library Association shall be to promote library service and librarianship in libraries of all types in the state of Arizona.

AzLA Accomplishments

  • Developed statewide materials purchasing contracts
  • Lobbied and obtained the end of use taxes on books
  • Provide continuing education credits for school librarians
  • Sponsor the Horner Fellowship
  • Provide regional forums to obtain statewide input to the association
  • Nominate young librarians to the Snowbird Leadership Institute

Program Description:

Looking to increase your community engagement and broaden your library's collections? Join us for a presentation about ASU Library's featured collection program! This session will delve into the ways they leverage collection development to forge stronger connections with their community and enrich holdings with the help of their valuable input. 

In this session, Corie will guide you through outreach strategies that are tailored to diverse audiences, and share about some of the notable partnerships in the featured collection program. Discover the process of curating featured collections, from title selections to designing displays and collection descriptions. You will also learn how to harness the power of social media to amplify collections and community partners!

Presenter: 

Corie Cisco is a Project Coordinator for the Curation and Research Services team at the ASU Library. She manages the featured collection program and other projects related to collection development, data analysis, and outreach strategies related to open stacks. Her undergraduate and graduate degrees are in English literature, creative writing, gender studies and religious studies. In May 2023, she completed her Master of Library and Information Science at the University of Arizona. She's had various roles at ASU since 2017, including student affairs, outreach and recruitment, event planning and project management.
