Program Description:
Dianna Manasse and Kiyoshi Parke are passionate about ensuring teens receive the best service possible. They have worked together in public libraries, improving policies and training staff to feel confident and excited about working with this age group! Throughout this presentation they will ask staff to look at how their biases may impact their teen customers, explain how to improve teen services, and give ideas on how to design equitable teen spaces.
Presenters:
Dianna Manasse has worked in youth services for over 5 years and has primarily focused on teen services. Her main passion has been engaging teens in literacy and their communities through a variety of unique, fun and educational programming. She believes teens are the next generation of library users, and works daily to make sure they have great experiences in libraries.
Kiyoshi Parke has spent the last 5 years in public libraries, working to provide programming and engaging spaces for kids and teens. She has organized large-scale family events, helped design youth and teen library spaces, and was at the forefront of virtual programming for Maricopa County. She continues to improve library services as well as staff training for positive interactions with teens.
